A Personal Update

Friday, March 20, 2020.

Wow. What a week this has been. I hope you find yourself at peace amid this storm. As you are well aware, everything in our world has been turned upside down.

With the cancellation of schools, community events, and even many churches, you would understand that my passion for sharing from the stage has suddenly halted. However, my work, the work of this ministry, has not stopped. Just in the last week with our FaithKidz project, we pivoted and created a five-week series for churches to share with their families of children. So that they might worship at home, we took it from concept to launch in just four days! We had 320 children’s leaders sign up in only 48 hours—all of this we have provided at no cost to the churches!

Due to more office time, I’ve begun work on our next online teaching course, “Sharing Jesus with Children.” We had hoped to launch this resource by summer—and now it looks like that will happen.

On a personal note, due to the postponement of events, I’ve seen my income fall overnight. Some of the income of the ministry also comes through these events; I am concerned about the next few weeks. And how the loss may affect this work and my family.

How you can help:

Pray.

Right now, we should all be praying. Diligently. For our world. Our country. Our communities. For our leaders. Our health-care workers. Pretty much, we need to be calling out to God. James 5:16 reminds us,

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Or as in the New Living Translation, The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

Give.

I am working on several projects that might help generate income for this ministry to overcome what we’ve lost and may continue to lose over these next few weeks. You can click here to give a tax-deductible gift to NDE.

(If you’d like to know how you can assist my family, specifically, please call, text, or email me. Or if you wish, you can give via PayPal here. (This would be a personal gift, and not tax-deductible.) Thank you.

If you need prayer, please let me know so that I might be praying for you, too. Below I’ve listed some links to past blog-posts that might help you during this storm.

The 14th chapter in the book of John is a powerful chapter. One of my favorites. Jesus is comforting his disciples and then in revealing the work of the Holy Spirit, he says:

All this I have spoken while still with you.  But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14; 25-27 (NIV)

More Soon,

(Still) Sharing His Wonder,

Scott Humston

  1. These are unusual days like nothing we’ve done before. Every day/hour I think of another way my friends are dealing with problems…and you certainly are facing challenges with the schools closed for who knows how long? My daughter is out at least until April 15, can be later as you know, nothing is set. She is suffering with bronchitis so is good (?) for her to be at home. The family has urged me to self-isolate so I am doing that. If I get sick, I have no one to take care of me…my son and daughter in love have full jobs…so I must take care of myself. I continue to pray for you and your family and ministry. Will send a gift through my bank to help with expenses. God bless you all.
