A Resolution that Truly Transforms.

“January” actually comes from the Roman mythological figure, Janus, who is pictured as having two faces; one looking forward and another back. January is the time to evaluate the past year and plan for the coming year. Most of us sincerely do this with a new determination to make significant improvements in ourselves, our relationships and our circumstances. By the middle of January, most of those New Year’s resolutions have already been broken and forgotten.

There is, however, an area that I feel we all need to determine to “do better” during this year. That is in reaching people for Christ! We need to reach them because Christ commanded us because it is His way for us to show our love for Him because those people will spend an eternity in Hell if we do not win them to Jesus… and because it will be to our advantage here on earth for those lives to be changed. I could spend this entire note on any one of these points, but let’s just consider the last one. America seems to be at one the lowest points morally and spiritually that I have ever seen. A sinful and sin-filled life seems to be the norm every place we turn.

The future seems even less encouraging. The way the laws of the land have been made and the way the Supreme Court has interpreted them seem to be leading us completely away from the Judeo-Christian ethical standards upon which this country was founded and through which we have found our financial and moral strengths. Even democracy does not work unless there is a strong moral undergirding of the principle of one-person-one-vote.

However, there is good news! This downward spiral in America can be completely reversed! This nation will not be changed first through legislation but through changing the legislators! Crime … whether on Wall Street or in the back alley … will not improve through educating the criminal but through evangelizing the criminal.

In other words, WE DO NOT CHANGE THE COUNTRY FROM THE OUTSIDE-IN, BUT FROM THE INSIDE-OUT! WE WILL ONLY change the COUNTRY ONE SOUL AT A TIME!
