Sustaining Hope

Hello, Praying Friend!

I hope this Eastertide (the four weeks following the resurrection, continuing the celebration!) finds you amid encouragement and even more—Hope! We can all use a reminder about Hope. Here are three ways the Bible reminds us to hold Hope in our Hearts;

1. Through faith in God: The Bible teaches that having faith in God is the foundation of Hope. It says in Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

2. By relying on God’s promises: The Bible is a treasure trove of promises that offer us Hope. One such promise, found in Jeremiah 29:11, reassures us, “For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” We can find Hope even in the most challenging times by placing our trust in these promises.

3. By remembering God’s faithfulness: His Word is full of stories of God’s faithfulness to his people. Remembering how God has been faithful in the past gives us Hope for the future. In Lamentations 3:21-23, the writer says, “Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have Hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”

Let the words above remind you that God loves you and that we have profound Hope in Christ because of His promises and the truth of the resurrection!
