Garbage In. Garbage Out.

Garbage In. Garbage Out.

“GIGO” or “GARBAGE IN – GARBAGE OUT” is an old phrase referring to computers. However, GIGO can also refer to our minds. If you get “garbage” from your mind it is because we have put “garbage” into it. You can NOT get good actions from your self… unless you feed your mind good thoughts. By the way, the Bible can be a wonderful source of “good” thoughts! (NOTE that God commands us to think about the good things of life, for our own good. What we think about not only controls the direction our actions will take us, but it also results in us feeling either good or bad. When we think “good” thoughts then we “feel” good. When we think “bad” thoughts then we “feel” bad.)

“Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report: if there is any virtue, and if there is anything that is praiseworthy. THINK ON THESE THINGS!” (Philippians 4:8 NKJV)

God is commanding us to think positive thoughts. This is NOT a motivational pitch … it is the Word of God! Because of the fact that every action starts with a thought; then what we think about determines the direction our actions will take us. In order to control our actions then we must control what we think about.

When a person thinks continually about how miserable his life is, then he becomes more miserable. As I travel I often encounter people who continually think of all the bad things done by someone else in their church … to the point that, in their sight, that other person could do nothing right. And the thing is that they made everyone else miserable right along with themselves.

A person can poison his workplace through negative thoughts toward his employer or toward his fellow employees. He makes himself and everyone else miserable because of his bad attitude. I’m sure that you have noticed that this type of negative person never keeps his thoughts to himself. He simply MUST share his negativity with someone else, trying to find confirmation that his life is “bad”.

The human mind is a wonderful creation of God … it cannot think of two things at the same time. So while you are thinking positive thoughts, you cannot be thinking negative thoughts. When you are thinking about things that are true, honest, just, pure, and lovely, you can NOT think about those things that are false, dishonest, unjust, impure and ugly.

THINK ON THESE THINGS: truth, honesty, justice, purity, loveliness, good report, virtuous, praiseworthy, “… and the God of peace will be with you.” (Philippians 4:8-9 NKJV)

Sharing HIS Wonder,

Scott Humston

  • Soul Fruit

The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and whoever captures souls is wise. (Proverbs 11:30)

The fruit of an apple tree is apples. The fruit of an orange tree is oranges. The fruit of a Christian should be other Christians. The natural result of a life dedicated to Christ is to win others to Him!
