Embracing a Thank-Full Heart

Hello, Praying Friend!

I hope this month of Thanksgiving has you focused on thankfulness. As I wrote about last month, it is a joy to be thankful and praise, even amid the storm! We all have something to be grateful for.

This month, I am enclosing a small “Thanksgiving” card for our friends who get this by mail. It is just a small, gentle reminder to be thankful! (For digital readers, click here to download the card.)

What does the Bible say about being Thank-Full?

God’s word emphasizes the importance of thankfulness throughout its teachings, encouraging believers to cultivate gratitude in all circumstances. One of the most well-known verses is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, which instructs, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” This passage highlights that thankfulness is not just a response to positive events but a consistent practice that we should engage in, recognizing God’s presence and sovereignty in every situation, whether joyful or challenging.

Colossians 3:15-17 strengthens this theme by urging believers to let the peace of Christ rule in their hearts and to be thankful. The act of gratitude serves as a means to strengthen one’s faith and foster a deeper relationship with God.

Also, the Psalms are filled with declarations of thankfulness, encouraging worshippers to declare God’s goodness and faithfulness. If you haven’t read the Psalms in a while, check them out!

Through these scriptures, it becomes clear that thankfulness is essential to the Christian life, helping people like you and me to focus on blessings rather than struggles and to acknowledge the many gifts we have received from God.

So, this month, let’s be filled with Thanksgiving! I hope you’ll prayerfully complete this card and affix it to your bathroom mirror, refrigerator, or anywhere you can see it for the next few weeks to remind yourself to be thankful!

Thankful for you!
